Our facility's technology, and the assembled expertise of our experienced specialist practitioners provide the necessary mix to deliver predictable high quality care in a carefully controlled environment.
Below is an outline of our particular approach to patients who present with Dental Fear and Anxiety.
Treatment Programs
Each treatment program is individualised to the patient’s needs, but the following is the established protocol for the management of dental fear followed in the Beacon Dental Fear Clinic
1.
Assessments
During the Assessment Phase, patients meet with a specialist dentist with expertise in assessing anxiety and dental needs. Suitability for local anesthetic techniques conscious sedation, or general anesthetic treatment approaches is evaluated based on your individual requirements and a detailed review of your medical and dental history.
2.
Treatment Interventions
In the Treatment phase, care is provided in a clinical setting with an experienced restorative dentist and if appropriate a sedation specialist who controls and monitors progress throughout the treatment session.
3.
Follow-Up Appointments
The specialist who carried out the initial assessment meets with that patient again at the follow-up appointment to evaluate further treatment options and outcomes as their dental treatment program progresses.
4.
Fear Reduction Strategies
In this phase, patients can engage in a process of desensitisation to their anxiety surrounding dental treatment. This may allow less complex anaesthetic options for patients who have completed the initial treatment program restoring oral health and want to pursue more advanced treatments.
5.
Maintenance of Oral Health following completion.
We are committed to ensuring the best possible long-term treatment outcomes for all the patients under our care, with ongoing maintenance and support following the completion of any services provided as a key aspect of our approach.
